A lot of people who work out don't pay enough attention to their form when doing so, or after having had only about 4 -6 sessions with the trainer, figure they're okay on their own and forget some of the finer points which can lead to physical injury. It seems that you don't have a trainer at the moment or you would be asking her / him what the problem might be. Take it easy and just do stretches for the back for the time being. If ibuprofen or Tylenol doesn't cut the pain, you can take muscle relaxants such as Robaxecet or Robaxicol (one has acetemenophine, the other ibuprofen ... which ever works best for you -- in moderate doses). Hot baths in epsom salts. Also, you are still growing and will continue to do so for another 4 years or so (generally speaking). You really should have a personal trainer who can help to modify your workout specifically for you. Here in Canada, most gyms provide on-site certified trainers at no extra charge. It's all inclusive with membership fees. If you are still experiencing the back pain after a week of "rest" best seek medical advice.
